Modular Architecture
Start small. Scale across departments.
MEDNOTA HUB
The Central Platform for Integrated, Data-Driven Healthcare
The MedNota Hub Platform is the core foundation of all MedNota applications and represents the central infrastructure for digital quality management, patient safety, and clinical process optimisation. As the technological and conceptual heart of the MedNota ecosystem, the platform connects specialised applications such as the MedNota Patient Journey App and the MedNota Infection Surveillance App within a unified, modular environment. It enables healthcare organisations to move away from fragmented point solutions towards a fully integrated, scalable, and future-ready platform, where data, workflows, and insights are seamlessly connected.
A Modular Platform Designed for Flexibility and Growth
The MedNota Hub follows a modular platform approach, allowing healthcare facilities to select exactly the applications and modules they need. Each application — and even each module within an application — can be used independently or combined with others. This creates a system that can evolve over time:
Start with a single use case or department
Expand to additional modules or applications
Scale to organisation-wide deployment
One Platform, One Experience
All applications within the MedNota Hub share a unified architecture and user experience. This means: • A consistent user interface across all applications • Standardised workflows and interaction patterns • A unified data logic and structure For healthcare professionals, this significantly reduces training effort and increases usability. Once familiar with one application, users can intuitively work across the entire platform.
SOLUTION
Digital Patient Insights for Value-Based Healthcare
The MedNota Patient Journey Application is the specialised solution within the MedNota Hub platform, designed to digitally capture, structure, and analyse patient- and clinic-related healthcare data. It enables healthcare organisations to systematically integrate the patient perspective into clinical care by collecting health trajectories, experiences, symptoms, and medical histories in a structured and standardised way. This creates a continuous, data-driven foundation for improving care quality, supporting clinical decision-making, and enabling the practical implementation of value-based healthcare. By embedding patient-reported data directly into clinical workflows, the MedNota Patient Journey App bridges the gap between patients and healthcare professionals and transforms subjective patient input into actionable clinical intelligence.
Flexible Patient Data Collection Across the Care Continuum
The MedNota Patient Journey App supports a wide range of clinical and patient-centred assessments, including:
Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs)
Patient-Reported Experience Measures (PREMs)
Structured medical history collection
Continuous symptom monitoring over time
Key Functional Modules
The MedNota Patient Journey App includes several functional modules that can be used independently or in combination:
PROMs
Standardised and adaptable questionnaires (e.g. ICHOM-based). Responses are converted into clinical scores that support decision-making and disease tracking
PREMs
Captures patient experience related to communication, organisation, and care processes, enabling targeted quality improvements.
Medical History
Structured collection of allergies, diagnoses, and medication data to support risk assessment and clinical safety.
Survey Application
Cross-device accessible without installation, including interactive visual tools and flexible completion options (pause/resume functionality).
SOLUTION
Digital Infection Monitoring for Safer Healthcare
The MedNota Infection Surveillance Application is a specialised solution within the MedNota Hub platform, designed to enable modern, digital surveillance of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). Developed specifically for clinical environments, the application supports healthcare facilities in strengthening patient safety, improving infection prevention and control (IPC) quality, and significantly increasing operational efficiency. By replacing manual processes with structured, semi-automated workflows, the solution reduces workload while ensuring high data quality and consistency. A key differentiator is its rule-based validation logic, which ensures that infection data is captured consistently and remains comparable across departments, institutions, and national frameworks.
Comprehensive Surveillance Across Key Infection Types
The MedNota Infection Surveillance App provides a broad and modular suite of surveillance capabilities covering the most relevant HAIs:
Surgical Site Infections (SSI)
Catheter-Associated Bloodstream Infections (CLABSI)
Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTI)
Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia (VAP)
Key Functional Modules
The application includes a comprehensive and modular set of functionalities: Core Surveillance Modules
SSI
Monitoring of surgical site infections, including patient-reported follow-up
CLABSI
Surveillance of bloodstream infections related to central lines
CAUTI
Monitoring of urinary tract infections linked to catheters
VAP
Surveillance of ventilator-associated pneumonia

About Us
Mission & Vision
A connected, efficient and consistently patient-centred healthcare system supported by smart, data-driven technologies defines MedNota’s vision. The aim is to contribute to a future-ready healthcare system by providing a modular software platform that supports healthcare professionals and patients along the entire care pathway, simplifies processes, integrates fragmented systems and adapts flexibly to individual needs. At the core of the mission lies the commitment to place patient safety and quality management at the centre of digital solutions and to measurably improve clinical processes. Rather than treating digitalisation as an end in itself, MedNota understands it as a means to reduce unnecessary workload and strengthen the capacity of healthcare professionals to focus on clinical care and safety-critical decisions.
MedNota was founded in 2022 by Devon Mahadevan and Ranjit Kalarickamakel with the goal of closing the gap between technological potential and real-world application in healthcare. Both founders combine experience in clinical environments with backgrounds in medical and business informatics, along with expertise in software development, healthcare systems and digital transformation.
During their studies and early professional experience in clinical and healthcare IT environments, they observed a consistent pattern: while Switzerland has one of the most advanced healthcare systems globally, it must not become complacent. Continuous innovation is essential to sustainably meet future demands in care delivery, quality management and patient safety. At the same time, they observed structural challenges in healthcare digitalisation, including persistent manual work, errors caused by repeated data transfer, fragmented data silos and heterogeneous, non-interoperable systems that are difficult to connect and operate across institutions.
Empathy
Ensures that user perspectives are actively understood and solutions are developed in close collaboration with healthcare professionals.
Creativity
enables innovative, yet always practical and clinically usable solutions.
Impact
guarantees that every application creates measurable value by reducing workload, improving processes and strengthening patient safety in a sustainable way.
How we build and collaborate
Interdisciplinary expertise defines MedNota, combining medical informatics, health informatics, software engineering, business and international relations. This enables a multi-dimensional understanding of healthcare challenges that goes beyond purely technical perspectives and includes clinical and organisational realities. Led by its founders, the company maintains a strong link between strategic direction, architecture and implementation, as both are actively involved in development and operations. Close collaboration with healthcare institutions ensures that product development is continuously shaped by real-world clinical needs. Through a co-creation approach, feedback from hospitals, clinicians and partners is directly integrated into the evolution of the platform. Alongside the Swiss core team, MedNota works with a dedicated software engineering team in India. This structure combines clinical proximity and strategic control with scalable development capacity, enabling efficient delivery of complex digital solutions while maintaining consistency, quality and architectural coherence.
OUR PERSPECTIVE
A fundamental principle behind MedNota is that healthcare software should reduce workload, not increase it.
Excessive administrative burden competes directly with clinical attention and therefore weakens the focus on patient care — and ultimately patient safety. Within modern healthcare digitalisation, key challenges persist, including manual processes, fragmented data entry, repeated documentation, data silos and heterogeneous systems that are often not interoperable. These structural issues create inefficiencies, increase error risk and limit the effective use of clinical information. MedNota’s platform is designed to address exactly these challenges by improving data usability, reducing fragmentation and enabling better coordination of care processes. Instead of isolated tools, the result is a modular ecosystem that evolves with healthcare organisations. By combining flexibility, interoperability and scalability, MedNota aims to support a healthcare system that is better connected, continuously improving and consistently focused on what matters most: safe, high-quality patient care.
